Receive Payment
When the auction ends, both the seller (shown in Figure 8-3) and the buyer
receive automated e-mails from eBay that let each know who the other party
is, restate the closing price and any fixed shipping costs, and start the end-ofauction
process. What happens next depends on two factors:
??? Is your payment amount final? That is, are your shipping costs predetermined by
a fixed cost or a calculated amount, or have you chosen for the buyer to contact you
after the sale to negotiate shipping costs? If the latter, can the buyer pay immediately
through PayPal or let you know an alternative payment method is on its way? If the
final amount isn??™t known to the buyer, you will have to let him or her know the details
by sending an invoice.
