OBTAIN ACCOUNTS FOR PAYMENT METHODS YOU ACCEPT
The types of payments you will accept for your sales will dictate which accounts
you might consider setting up to facilitate processing as well as protect you from
unscrupulous buyers. For example, if you want to accept credit and debit card
payments (highly recommended), you will need to join a processing service. For
most sellers who do not already have a credit card processing service set up for
an ongoing business concern, signing up for a PayPal Premier payment service is
a good bet (see Chapter 6 for steps to sign up). If you anticipate a high-volume of
checks, you might consider signing up with a check guarantee service (for example,
www.echo-inc.com) to protect you against fraudulent checks. eBay allows you to
accept several forms of payment, but also restricts you from using a few.
