BIDDING IN PREAPPROVED
AUCTIONS
You may find that you are not allowed to participate in an
auction. In this case, you may see a message informing
you that the item being bid on is only available to a
restricted list of bidders. If you really want to bid on the
item, send a message to the seller asking to be placed
on the approved bidder list.
If you are blocked from bidding, the seller has specifically
placed you on a list of bidders to be excluded or
blocked from bidding. In this case, you will not be able
to participate in this seller??™s auctions. This can be for
several reasons: you are an international buyer and
this seller does not sell internationally; you do not fit the
feedback rating profile that is required for this seller; you
did not pay for previous winning bids or created other
hassles for this seller; and so on. See Chapter 7 for
additional information.
CAUTION
Determine how much money you are willing to pay for an
item and resolve not to spend more than that. Find out as
much as you can about its value, decide what it is worth to
you, and then let that be. Remember that the auction (or
fixed-price purchase) is a legally binding contract and you
legally are required to pay for any item you bid on and win.
