Use ID Verify
eBay offers a service to verify that its U.S. (and U.S. territories) buyers and
sellers are who they say they are. This gives others confidence that they are
dealing with a real person, not a cyberspace phantom. To use ID Verify, you
pay $5 to a third-party company (Equifax, only available in the U.S.) whose
business it is to verify identities. You supply some personal information (credit
card account information and driver??™s license number, for instance) and, once
verified, you receive an ID Verify icon that is placed in your feedback profile.
1. Click Sell on the eBay header. Scroll down to the bottom
of the page, and click Selling Resources in the first
links bar.
2. Under Third Party Services, click ID Verify. The ID Verify
page is displayed.
3. Click Sign Up Now to start the process.
4. On the ID Verify: Accept Terms page, click I Agree after you read and agree to three
conditions:
??? To pay $5 if you are granted an ID Verify designation (you don??™t pay if you don??™t pass)
??? Not to provide false information
??? Not to change your contact information for 30 days
